Holiday Exhibition & Sale Study Group History

The Marketing Study Group evolved in the fall of 1990 when Ann Edwards and Paula McFarling asked for support from the Guild membership to sponsor a retail sale of member's work. Paula and Ann chaired the 1990, 1st Annual Holiday Sale. Guild members who participated in this first sale were: Amy Preckshot, Barbara Overby, Mary Jane Thorne, Jean Williams, Ruth Walker, Debbie Schluckebier, Jenny Niekrasz, Carol Leigh Brack-Kaiser, Helen Carter, Katy Howland, Vickie Smith, and Jane Accurso.

The 1990, 1st Annual Holiday Sale was a success. Paula, Ann and all of the participants put in a lot of hard work and it showed. Their work on this first Sale laid the groundwork for all the sales that have followed. Paula assumed the responsibility for chairing the Marketing Study Group and the Holiday Sales of 1991-1996. She devoted seven years to this effort, spending countless hours organizing, setting goals, establishing guidelines and motivating guild members to participate in this Guild activity. We all owe her much for the benefits we have derived from her dedication to the Marketing Study Group and to the Guild!

Our study group changed its name in 2000, from the Marketing Study Group to the Holiday Exhibition & Sale Study Group. We wanted to be clear that demonstrating and exhibiting the beauty of the fiber arts is the goal of our group.
